» What type of events does Alternative Quartet perform at?

We play at all types of events including but not limited to corporate events and dinners, wedding ceremonies and receptions, product launches, fetes, anniversaries, birthday parties and more.

» What set up is required for a performance?

We require that the client hires an experienced sound engineering company to provide us with the equipment and technical expertise needed for optimal sound quality. A full list of these requirements can be viewed on the Contact us page.

» What time does Alternative Quartet need to arrive before a scheduled performance?

In order to ensure time for a proper sound check and rehearsal, we are required to access the performance venue a minimum of 2 hours prior to the event.

» What does Alternative Quartet wear?

We usually attire ourselves in formal wear, but we are able to dress according to the occasion.

» Does Alternative Quartet perform outdoors?

We have performed outdoors on many occasions and can do so as long as our sound requirements can be adequately catered for.

» Does Alternative Quartet need to take breaks?

For performances with a duration of more than 1.5 hours, we are required to take refreshment breaks.

» Does Alternative Quartet play with amplification?

Yes. Alternative Quartet is an electric instrument-based ensemble that requires adequate amplification in order to experience the full impact of our music.

» Does Alternative Quartet perform with vocalists and/or other instruments?

On special request, Alternative Quartet can perform with singers and other musical artists. There is an additional charge for this service which must be booked at least 1 month in advance of the event, in order to allow us to properly prepare and rehearse.

» Does Alternative Quartet take requests or play songs that are not in your repertoire?

Alternative Quartet has an extensive repertoire so if you would like us to play a particular song from our repertoire, please let us know and we will be pleased to meet your requests. If your chosen song is not one that we are familiar with, we will be happy to accommodate you provided that we are given at least 2 weeks notice ahead of the event.

» Do we need to meet the members of Alternative Quartet in person?

It is not necessary for us to meet in person ahead of a scheduled event, but if you would like to meet us we would gladly facilitate this.

» Will Alternative Quartet help us with music selection?

Not only are the members of Alternative Quartet experienced in the playing of their respective instruments, they also have between them a vast wealth of knowledge of music and will only be too happy to assist you with selecting the perfect pieces for your occasion.

» What’s included when I book Alternative Quartet for a wedding?

For a wedding ceremony and/or wedding reception, you will have all four musicians available to entertain and delight your guests. However, the client should provide the necessary sound system requirements.

» What if my wedding reception and ceremony are in two different venues?

Provided that there is enough time for us to move between locations and set up in each place, we will be happy to accommodate you at both functions. However, there would be an additional fee as we have to perform at two locations.

» What if the ceremony is delayed?

It is very rare that we book more than 2 events on a given day so often it should not be a problem if the proceedings are delayed. We would ask that the client is as punctual as possible with the running of the event, and if there is a delay of more than an hour, we will add a 5% charge to the bill to cover our costs.

» Does Alternative Quartet attend wedding rehearsals?

We’re well experienced in performing at weddings and so it is not necessary for Alternative Quartet to attend wedding rehearsals.

» How do I choose the music for my wedding?

We have listed some of the most popular wedding pieces from our repertoire on the Weddings page, so please do check there for some suggestions. Alternatively or in addition, we can suggest music that will be right for the occasion and you are welcome to make requests ahead of time.
